Our Lady’s Altar Society was formed more than 50 years ago when Msgr. John T. Gulcznski asked young school mothers to organize an essential Altar Society—some of the original members are still our most faithful members today! Now we are asking all women of any age and all interests to come forward and join like-minded women in spiritual and community sistership.
Our membership is made up of smaller groups called Circles although members do not have to belong to a Circle to be a member of the Altar Society. Circles support various charitable and spiritual organizations like providing welcome baskets for new seminarians, knitting and crocheting baby and adult items, making activity booklets for children at Parkland Hospital, hosting a light lunch for our monthly meetings, and cleaning the church.
The Altar Society serves our parish by operating the gift shop, maintaining the church candles and liturgical vestments, providing small boxes of personal items for people being helped by homeless shelters, and hosting the annual Fall and Spring Bake Sales from which all proceeds go directly back to the parish to keep our church beautiful and safe.
We gather together on the third Tuesday of every month from September through May at 10am in the St Anne Hall or 6pm in St. Maron's Room.
